Perspective

Today, the media industry is changing at a mind boggling pace. The traditional marketing company model must change with it and many find that a difficult transition. Often there is a gap between how traditional marketing agencies understand how to leverage the web. We're different in that we grew up online and the web has always been our core focus from the beginning. We started out as web developers & programmers and eventually grew the business out to encompass traditional media solutions for our clients. Because we are geeks at heart we know how to leverage the web more efficiently and to a greater extent.

 

Efficiency

The 3 founders of the company came from very different parts of Canada (Vancouver, Montreal, & Sydney Nova Scotia) Each brought valuable insight and perspective with one common interest -> Efficiency. This core value is pervasive with every member on the team to this day and translates into value for our clients. The most apparent use of this can be seen in our approach to target the US and Western Canadian markets while leveraging the cost effective resources found in Atlantic Canada. Simply put, we can produce the same of better results for our clients our west for about half the cost.

 

Open Source

Open Source is all we've ever done, even before it was popular and difficult to convince some of our prospective clients of its value we never wavered. We've always known its value and believed in the philosophy of Open Source and continue to give back to the community that has now become the de facto standard in the industry today. Several years ago we spent a great deal of time experimenting with various open source frameworks, Content Management Systems (CMS), and portal platforms. What we found was that on almost every project we had difficulty using code developed by others to build best in class custom applications that would fit our customers needs perfectly. In addition, we found that the constant security patching and version upgrades caused us to rethink our approach.  After careful consideration we decided to take the next step in our commitment to Open Source and build our own free Open Source framework (More info on the project can be found here: www.dashboardwebapp.com). The effects of this approach have been dramatic and have provided our customers with the following benefits:

  • Increased Customization - Because we wrote the code ourselves we know how to do anything with it you may require.

This doesn't mean that we have forgotten about the value of other Open Source projects. We appreciate the advantages of leveraging open source technology when appropriate. In fact, we continue to use many open source components in the majority of solutions we deliver to our clients today. The key difference is how we use our experiance to correctly select and use open source components that provide the most value for our clients. We only use components that are well established and have a committed support network. One of the main advantages for using open source in this way is that we can provide an enterprise class product on a small business budget.
